In the heart of the
Salzburgerland in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Rauris
Valley is an ideal location for summer and winter vacations
for the whole family. Rauris is a stunning alpine village,
with spectacular views of the Sonnblick Glacier.
The Rauris Valley offers a multitude of sporting activities
throughout the year, such as white water rafting,
mountaineering, sledging, free ski-ing, paragliding, ice and
rock climbing, and 46 km of groomed cross country pistes.
The main gondola station is approximately 200m away from our
development and the vast Nordic ski trails start within the
site boundary. The village of Rauris is at 1,000m and the majority of ski-ing takes place
between
1,650m and 3,100m; even beginners can find slopes for them at over
1,800m.
There are plenty of
mountain restaurants to stop for lunch and take in the
breathtaking alpine views. Gold was mined in the Sonnblick
area until 1927, and you can still try your hand at panning
for treasure today - linking into a 1,000 year relationship
between Rauris and this precious metal. In-between making
the most of the area's adventure sports, you can step out
into some glorious countryside thanks to a superb supply of
nature trails and hiking routes. The Rauriser Urwald
beckons: 80 tarns dotted through a primal forest. Rauris is
easily accessible by road or train and is within an hour of
Salzburg airport.
When it's time to
unwind, Rauris has 22 restaurants, 8 Bars/Pubs and 2
Discotheques for those who feel the need.
